ALHIL CYRIL CLAIMS CONSOLATION TITLE AT THE TOBAGO CARNIVAL U14 COTECC TOURNAMENT
St Lucia was represented by a team of four athletes namely Anaiah Bousquet, Denney Estava, McCarvy Cyril and Alhil Cyril at the recently concluded Tobago Carnival Cup at the National Racket Centre in Tacarigua, Trinidad from 12th-19th August. The team's performance was exceptional with all players claiming COTECC points to start their climb up the ranking ladder.
McCarvy Cyril was the only athlete to make the main draw as he won three of his four round robin matches, this was a great achievement for him. Denney Estava and Alhil Cyril both won two of their five round robin matches played. They competed in the consolation draw both advancing as far as the semi-final, but Cyril advanced further as he claimed the U14 Consolation boys title in the final.
The U12 athletes have had a great year thus far with Estava being the finalist of the C.O. Williams U12 singles and doubles and Cyril claimed the championship trophies at the C.O. Williams U12 in Barbados, and the Sagicor International U12 in St. Lucia. The Tobago Carnival Cup Boys U14 Consolation champion is his third regional title for 2022.
The team continued their summer tour in Trinidad as action served off on Saturday 20th August in the Trinity COTECC U14 Tournament. Petterson George joined the team on Friday as he will be competing in the U18 ITF category. We congratulate all the athletes and wish them success in this week's tournament.
