ALHIL CYRIL CLAIMS SPOT IN FINAL OF REGIONAL SUMMER BOWL IN TTO
Cyril ends the Summer circuit at #19 regionally being the highest ranked athlete from the English speaking Caribbean.
Advancing to the main draw of the boys singles category was a great accomplishment for Cyril who took it a step further marching pass his doubles partner Jacob Jacelon from Trinidad and Tobago in the round of 16 defeating him in straight sets 6-0 6-3. The #1 National ranked U14 athlete then faced Darius Rahaman from Trinidad & Tobago breezing past him 6-1 6-0.
Cyril joined Mateo Gutierrez from El Salvador, Brandon Bridgewater from Suriname and Josiah Hills from Trinidad & Tobago in the semis where he was challenged by Mateo Gutierrez from El Salvador for the spot in the final. He was victorious leading in the first set 6-3 and fought to win the second set 7-5 and the match.
The final was contested against Brandon Bridgewater from Suriname where Cyril dropped the first set in a tie breaker where he lost (7-4). He then lost a challenging second set 6-1, Bridgewater won the match in straight sets 7-6 6-1.
Cyril ended the summer circuit ranked regionally at #19.
