HENRY AND SHARMA CLAIMS THEIR FIRST U14 SINGLES TITLE
Jaelyn Henry and Ishaan Sharma has claimed the 14 & Under singles titles in the National Independence Tennis Tournament 2022.
Jaelyn Henry former racket 2 player on the National U12 squad claimed her first 14 & Under title on Wednesday after defeating Amia Jn Marie in straight sets in the final of the National Independence Tennis Tournament. In the round robin phase she made light work of Anaiah Bousquet defeating her in straight sets 6-1 6-2, she also dismissed Amia Jn Marie in straight sets securing her spot in the main draw.
Henry played Brianna Jn Baptiste in the semi-final round defeating her in straight sets securing her final spot. In the final she faced Jn Marie again who came better prepared to claim the title, Henry got the easier end of the stick and claimed the 14s title defeating Jn Marie in straight sets.
Ishaan Sharma made his debut in the 14 & under category playing in a round robin draw for final positions. Sharma faced Peter Murray defeating him in straight sets 6-2 7-5, he then went on to defeat Nathanael Charles 6-2 7-6. On day two of play Sharma played Christian Evans defeating him in straight sets 6-0 6-0, his last match was very competitive when he played against Christian Evans from the Southern Tennis Academy defeating him in straight sets 6-3 6-1. Sharma ended up first on the table claiming the U14 boys singles title.
The tournament was very competitive and the athletes did their best.
