National Independence Tennis Tournament: Thrilling Matches as the Tournament Progresses

The National Independence Tennis Tournament continues to deliver exciting action, showcasing top-tier talent across all divisions.  The sportsmanship displayed has been commendable, and as we move into the final stages, we encourage all players to keep pushing for excellence.


Boys Under-14 Category
The under-14 boys have been putting on strong performances, demonstrating skill and determination on the court.
Taeo Lewis secured a solid victory over Riley Smith in a competitive quarter-final match. Leading and dominating from tne first set Lewis secured his spot in the semi-final with a score of 4-2 4-1. I

Girls Under-14 Category
The girls under-14 category has delivered intense battles, with several players showcasing their growth and experience.
Merkisha Justin triumphed over Skai Sammy in straight sets (4-2, 4-0).
Skai Sammy rebounded to defeat Joelle Habib (4-2, 4-2).
Skai Sammy continued her winning streak by overcoming Jaimie Lesmond (4-1, 4-1).
Samuella Bertrand impressed with a victory over Joelle Habib (5-3, 4-1). Many of these players have experience in regional tournaments, and their dedication and hard work are evident in their performances.


Girls Under-18 Category
The girls' under-18 final is set, promising an exciting matchup between two strong competitors.
Iyana Paul booked her spot in the final with a dominant win over Renee Morgan (6-0, 6-0).
Jaelyn Henry also secured her place in the final after defeating Annakie Arlette in straight sets (6-3, 6-0).With both players showing impressive form, this final will be one to watch!


Boys Under-18 Category
The boys' under-18 division has also reached its final stage, featuring an exciting clash between two standout players.
Denney Estava will take on Elliot Anthony in the final, a match that promises to be highly competitive.
Denney Estava, the reigning regional champion, has dominated at every level—from under-10s to under-12s—and continues to excel in the under-18 category. Elliot Anthony, a seasoned player, who took a break from the sport but returned last year, making an impressive comeback and securing his place in the final. Both players bring skill and experience to the court, making this a must-watch matchup.


Men's Open Category
The men's open draw is the most prestigious category, featuring professional players alongside rising junior athletes. Vernon Lewis, a legend in Saint Lucian tennis, has been in incredible form, cruising through the tournament without dropping a single game. He has recorded consecutive 6-0, 6-0 victories and continues to showcase his dominance. Vernon Lewis will face his student, promising junior Alhil Cyril, in today's semifinal—an intriguing battle between mentor and protégé.


Ronaldo St Juste will take on Peterson George in the other semifinal.
Ronaldo St Juste had to fight hard for his semifinal spot, enduring a grueling three-hour match against Ajaunie Scott before securing victory in three sets. Petterson Geroge also has haWith the semifinals set, fans can expect high-intensity action as these athletes compete for the championship title. Peterson George delivered a stunning comeback in the men's quarterfinal against Anthony Habib. After trailing 4-5 in the first set, he fought back cautiously to win the set 7-5. He then sealed the victory in the second set, securing his spot in the semifinals.Peterson George is an exceptional talent. A former top-ranked under-18 player, he has now transitioned into the men's division and continues to excel. His perseverance and tactical play make him a strong contender for the title.


Men's Doubles Draw
The men's doubles category has delivered exciting and competitive matches.
The Hunte brothers, Colin and Trevor, put on a dominant display, defeating Christian Collymore and Matthew George in straight sets (6-1, 6-1). They also went on to defeat Reep Bishamber and Randolph Rosemond in straight sets 6-3 6-1.
Ricardo Francois and Justin Wills also moved forward with a solid victory over Gregory Cooper and Terry Goodman in straight sets 6-1 6-1. Doubles action continues today at the National Tennis Center, with most matches now in the semifinal and quarterfinal stages.
