RESULTS DAY ONE CHRISTMAS TENNIS TOURNAMENT 2022

The annual Christmas Tennis Tournament 2022 served off today with competitive matches from our junior and senior athletes. In the boys 10 & under Immanuel Charles defeated Daniel Collymore in three sets 4-0 2-4 10-3, Aayush Sharma defeated Armani Rosemond in straight sets 4-1 4-1, Kimari Felix defeated Riley Smith in straight sets 5-3 4-1 and Tahj Goodman defeated Jelani Flermius in straight sets 4-0 4-2.

In the 14 & under Nathanael Charles had the best of Aiden Rosemond 4-0 4-0 he then went on to defeat Sanjay Lake winning the first set 5-3 with Lake winning the second set 4-2 in the third set Charles was able to secure the match winning 10-6 in the tie break. In the other boys 14s match U12 National player Denney Estava defeated Ishaan Sharma in straight sets 4-2 4-0. On centre court Brianna Jn. Baptiste secured the first win in the girls U14 draw defeating Annakie Arlette in straight sets 4-0 4-2. The top performers for the night Jaelyn Henry and Anaiah Bousquet went head to head in a very close match with Henry winning the first set in a tie break (7-5). With Bousquet not giving up she started the second set trailing Henry as they continued to challenge each other for the match, Bouquet had no intentions on giving up and fought to the finish but it was Henry who claimed the match in straight sets 5-4 4-2.

In the open category the ladies were on court from 9:00am with Scyla Murray defeating Marie Wilson in straight sets 6-4 6-1, Iyana Paul defeated Latoya Murray in straight sets 6-2 7-6(13-11), Marie Wilson defeated Catherine Morille in straight sets 6-1 6-1. The men also had an early 9:00am start with Ajaunie Scott defeating Saneil Bernard in straight sets 6-0 6-4, Petterson George then defeated Ajaunie Scott in three sets 7-6(7-3) 2-6 6-2. Thaddeus Emile also defeated Jaidyn Mathew in straight sets 6-1 6-1. 

Play continues tomorrow Saturday 14th January at the National Tennis Centre in Beausejour, all are invited to come out in large numbers to support our athletes, admission is absolutely free.
