Saint Lucians Advance to Main Draw at Powerade COTECC Tennis Tournament in Barbados

Denney Estava and Sanjay have both advanced to the main draw of the Powerade Tennis tournament in Barbados.
The Powerade COTECC Tennis Tournament in Barbados has proven to be both intense and inspiring, with Saint athletes rising to the challenge.
Sanjay Lake student of the Sir Ira Simmons Secondary School had a tough start, falling in his first match to Trinidad and Tobago's Novak Malcolm, 6-1, 6-1. However, Lake showed resilience and determination, bouncing back in a gripping three-set battle against Cruz Thornton of Barbados. He secured his spot in the main draw with a 6-3, 2-6, 10-3 victory.
Denney Estava student of the Leon Hess Comprehensive Secondary School breezed through the round-robin phase, showcasing his dominant form. He first defeated Trinidadian Jaiden Gomandy 6-1, 6-0, and followed up with a strong 6-1, 6-2 win over Liam Cave from Barbados. Due to his outstanding performance, Estava earned the #3 seed heading into the main draw.
Today marks a pivotal day as Sanjay Lake is set to face Christopher Khan in his first main draw match of the competition, while Denney Estava continue his strong run, in the first main draw round he is set to face Jaysean Wells of Trinidad and Tobago.
This tournament is a crucial one for both athletes, as they are competing for valuable COTECC ranking points. Their performance here will not only reflect their growth but also impact their regional standing.
