ST LUCIA ATHLETES SWEEP INTO SEMI-FINAL AT RBC CHAMPIONSHIP

The Saint Lucian tennis team is making waves at the ongoing RBC Junior Championships in Trinidad and Tobago, with all eight athletes who advanced to the main draw now securing spots in the semifinal round. The players have demonstrated exceptional skill, determination, and sportsmanship, keeping their eyes firmly set on bringing gold back to Saint Lucia.

Boys Under 12- In a thrilling quarterfinal match, Immanuel Charles student of the St Mary's College showcased remarkable composure and skill, defeating Joshua Reynolds from Guyana in straight sets. The match was an epic showdown, but Charles emerged victorious, solidifying his place in the semifinals. He will now face Cruz Thornton from Barbados for a chance to compete in the final.

Girls Under 12-Skai Sammy student of the Montessori Centre displayed incredible resilience in her quarterfinal encounter against Isabella Ramcharan of Trinidad and Tobago. After losing the first set 4-1, Sammy staged a stunning comeback, winning the second set 4-2 and clinching the tiebreaker 10-8. She now advances to the semifinal round, ready to take on her next challenge.

Boys Under 10 Division 2- In the Boys Under 10 Division 2 category, Aryan Garg and Kabir Garg  both secured their spots in the semifinals with impressive performances. Kirby defeated Roshan from Trinidad in straight sets, while Arian triumphed over his opponent from Argentina, also in straight sets. Vernon Justin continued the Saint Lucian dominance in this division, overpowering Roshan from Guyana in straight sets to advance to the semifinals.

Boys Under 10 Division 1- Riley Smith displayed his prowess on the court, convincingly defeating Joshua Janari from Trinidad and Tobago in the quarterfinal round. Smith claimed victory in straight sets, 4-1, 5-4, to secure his semifinal spot. 

Girls Under 16 Division- Annakie Arlette delivered a gutsy performance in her quarterfinal match against Annalise Orr. The match extended to three sets, with Arlette ultimately prevailing to book her place in the semifinals.

The Saint Lucian team continues to shine against tough competition, showcasing grit and determination at every step. Their success is a testament to their preparation and hard work, as well as the unwavering support of their coaches and families.

The entire nation eagerly awaits the semifinal matches, rooting for these young athletes as they push towards the finals and, hopefully, bring home gold.
