St Lucia Tennis Association Announces Davis Cup Team
The St. Lucia Tennis Association is thrilled to announce our Davis Cup team following a highly competitive playoff. The event will take place in Trinidad and Tobago from July 22nd to 28th. The playoff showcased an impressive level of play, and we are confident our players are ready to face the region's best.
Leading the team as both Racket 1 and player-captain is Vernon Lewis, a seasoned Davis Cup veteran. Lewis, who has represented St. Lucia on numerous international occasions, is the recipient of the prestigious Davis Cup Commitment Award and has been inducted into the Hall of Fame by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) for his longstanding commitment, performance, and participation in the competition.
Racket 2 is Jordan Hunte, a former under-10 and under-16 regional champion. Hunte's exceptional performance in the playoffs has earned him a spot on the team, and he is eager to represent St. Lucia in the Davis Cup.
Maxx Williams, playing as Racket 3, is a well-known figure in St. Lucia's tennis scene. Williams has represented the nation on countless occasions, including a notable third-place finish in regional competitions alongside Jordan Hunte.
Racket 4 is Alberton Richelieu, another familiar face in the tennis community. Richelieu has previously competed in the Davis Cup for St. Lucia and is ready to contribute his experience and skill to the team once again.
Our players are deeply patriotic and committed to re-establishing St. Lucia's presence in the Davis Cup after a long hiatus. They have demonstrated unwavering dedication throughout the competition.
We encourage the public to rally behind our team, showcasing the true spirit of St. Lucia's support and passion. Let's be a driving force behind our players as they compete on the international stage.
