SUMMER SLAM GIRLS 12S CHAMPION
Jaelyn Henry seizes another title at the Summer Slam.
Another title in the bag for the little giant Henry as she has defeated Amara Jn Marie for the second time in this tournament to claim her 1st place trophy. In the round robin draw Henry defeated Jn. Marie 4-2 4-1 not allowing her opponent to win any of the sets. Jn Marie number one ranked national 12 and under player and also former racket 3 player for team St. Lucia at the 12 and under team championship was patiently waiting for her chance at reprisal.
With blazing forehands and backhands from Jn. Marie one would think that Henry would have been blown off the court in seconds but, all the fire power was not enough to stop the junior champ from racing to victory. Henry was a wall on the court on Friday not allowing those strokes to intimidate or stop her, she hustled and returned the hardest and most difficult shots played by Jn Marie. Jn. Marie soon became frustrated over-hitting and making some unnecessary errors handing the match to Henry. Henry won in three sets 4-2 1-4 10-8. Henry also won the girls green ball doubles partnering with Jordyn Bishamber and she also partnered with Shahealer Jules in the girls 12s doubles claiming the finalist trophy.
Congratulations Jaelyn.
