The National Independence Tennis Tournament served off on Friday with exciting first round matches from the boys and girls 10 and 12 & under. The round robin matches were played over Friday and Saturday where we saw athletes advancing to the main draw.

Dean White, a dedicated tennis coach, left an indelible mark on the tennis community, serving it with passion and commitment for over two decades. His recent passing has left a void in the hearts of those who knew him and in the broader tennis fraternity.

The St Lucia Electricity Services Limited (LUCELEC) and Bank of St Lucia Ltd have partnered with the St Lucia Tennis Association to bring you the 12th Independence Tennis Tournament at the National Tennis Centre.

Alhil Cyril and Sanjay Lake claimed two titles ( 1 singles & 1 doubles), Denney Estava, Kimari Felix and Jelani Flermius claimed doubles title.

In the U10 Nefertari Goddard & Kimari Felix, U12 Samuella Bertrand, Sanjay Lake and Denney Estava, U14 Annakie Arlette and Alhil Cyril, U16 Iyana Paul have all advanced to the next stage of the tournament.

Alhil Cyril, Denney Estava and Sanjay Lake leads the team with opening straight sets victories on day one of play.

Cyril's exceptional display on the tennis court mirrors his impressive benefits from COTECC and the International Tennis Federation. Solidifying his position as one of the top junior performers locally in 2023, at age 13 he is now the highest ranked U14 player in the English speaking Caribbean.
